Three ingredients, no cooking, and it looks like something from a much fancier party than the one you're actually throwing.

Sweet cantaloupe, salty prosciutto, and a real drizzle of Aged Fig (Black Mission) Dark Balsamic — that's the whole recipe. The fig balsamic is what turns a simple melon-and-ham bite into something people stop and ask about.

This is the kind of appetizer that disappears in minutes at a wine night, a picnic, or a backyard BBQ, and it takes about as long to make as it does to explain.

Sweet Fruit Needs a Bold Balsamic

Cantaloupe is delicate, and prosciutto is salty, so the balsamic drizzled on top has to bring real depth without overwhelming either one. A properly aged fig balsamic does exactly that — it's thick enough to cling to the fruit and complex enough to stand up to the cured meat, without needing anything else on the plate.

Three ingredients is only simple if all three are actually good. The balsamic is doing more work here than people realize.

Skewer these ahead of time, keep them chilled, and drizzle right before serving so the balsamic stays glossy instead of soaking in.

Ingredients

  • 1 cantaloupe, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • Thin slices of prosciutto
  • Aged Fig (Black Mission) Dark Balsamic

Instructions

  1. Wrap each piece of cantaloupe with a slice of prosciutto.
  2. Arrange on a platter.
  3. Drizzle with the Aged Fig Black Mission Dark Balsamic.
  4. Serve and enjoy!
Make-ahead tip: Wrap and skewer the cantaloupe and prosciutto up to a few hours ahead and keep chilled. Drizzle with the balsamic right before serving so it stays glossy instead of soaking into the fruit.

Make It Your Own

Add a small basil leaf or a sprig of fresh thyme to each skewer for a little herbal note. A crumble of goat cheese tucked into the wrap is also a beautiful addition if you want something creamier.
